Do and Don't Block

Define what can be done with your brand assets, and what not.

Updated over a week ago

With the Do and Don't blocks, you can describe how your brand assets should be used more precisely – both with written and visual explanations.

Switch to edit mode by toggling the pen icon in the Power Bar (alternatively ctrl+e/ command+e) and open the block chooser by clicking on the plus sign and find the Content Blocks under the category “UI & Code”.

We have updated our text format Do & Don't Block, so Editors can inform Brand Guideline users about the rules for using specific brand elements in an even more customized way. Built using the new Brand SDK technology, now you have even more options for your block to be on-brand.

If you choose to do explanations in written form, with the new Do & Don't Block, you can define a title and add a description. Choose to only explain Do, only explain Don't, or both simultaneously, move the elements around with simple drag & drop, change them or delete them easily.

You can further choose between several styles to display your title. Choose a custom layout by modifying the column number, column, and row distance, and add your brand colors to the Do and Don't actions.

If you want to describe Do and Don't actions in visual form, simply upload the respective image first. This is possible in two ways; by uploading the asset to your Frontify Libraries or by using the drag&drop function to any image.

You can also add an image from within Frontify using the Asset Chooser

You then have the opportunity to describe your image by adding a title and description. Again, you can either explain solely Do and Don't actions or both. When styling your Content Block, you can decide on the number of columns. Set up either a two, three, or four-column display to organize the blocks. If you opt for two columns, you can further switch the display of the block from Do on top and Don’t on the bottom to a side-by-side setup by toggling the ‘Display side by side’ button.
