CI HUB for Microsoft Sharepoint

A getting started guide for using the CI HUB Connector for Microsoft Sharepoint.

Updated this week

This is a companion article to the CI HUB Beginners Guide. You will need to review both articles to get started using the Connector.

Installing the Connector

In Sharepoint, you have the option to make the CI HUB Connector available for individual sites or every site within your organization. Follow the steps below to download the CI HUB Connector for Microsoft Sharepoint:

Adding the connector to your Sharepoint (this needs to be done by a Sharepoint admin):

  1. Open SharePoint and go to the Sharepoint Store.

  2. Search “CI HUB” and install the connector. We recommend selecting "only enable this app". The CI Hub Connector is now connected in your Sharepoint tenant.

Adding the connector to a specific Communications Site and using it:

  1. To add the connector on a Sharepoint site, first click on the cogwheel at the top right of your page.

  2. Select “add an app” and your CI HUB Connector will appear as an app you can add. Click “add”. You will need to repeat this process for every site where you wish to have the plugin.

  3. You can see that the connector appears in your "Site contents".

  4. Select where you would like to add assets and then click on the CI HUB icon to start the connector.

  5. Right click on an asset to choose the relevant rendition and place it into Sharepoint.

Sharepoint specific features and limitations

Features

External Content Panel (ExCoP)

You will be able to check the status of assets, upload assets from Sharepoint to Frontify, and receive notifications that an updated version of your asset is available. It’s good to know that you will not see all assets that you have placed in all Sharepoint sites here, only the current Document Library you are in.

For a detailed explanation of the external content panel, please see this help article.

Limitations

Adding assets to the document library

This Connector is simpler than other CI HUB Connectors you may be using. Currently, the Connector is limited to allowing you to load assets into a Document Library for use. To do this, select the desired asset from the system and click the “Place” icon. Now it is in the Document Library for you to use within the site.

Reloading Content

The CI HUB Connector for Sharepoint is completely reloaded every time it is launched to make sure the assets you use are up to date. Depending on the number of connections you have, this could take some time.
