Automations: User guidelines

Best practices, limits, and processing expectations for reliable automation performance

Updated today

Automations are designed to help you efficiently manage and update assets at scale. This guide outlines key execution expectations, system limits, and best practices to ensure reliable and predictable performance.

Execution times

  • Single asset: Automations are typically applied within ~3 minutes

  • Bulk assets: Automations are processed via a fair queue system, meaning execution time increases with volume.

Estimated processing times:

  • 10k assets β†’ ~1 hour

  • 50k assets β†’ ~10 hours

  • 100k+ assets β†’ ~2–5 days

These are estimated ranges and can vary depending on complexity (eg. number of actions or AI steps)

Large migrations

  • For large-scale updates (20k+ assets), please coordinate with your Customer Success Manager in advance

  • If not coordinated, automations may be placed in a slower processing queue to protect overall system performance

Automation limits:

To ensure stability and reliable performance, the following limits apply:

  • Max. 15 seconds runtime per automation

  • Max. 10 actions per automation

  • Max. 2 AI actions per automation (recommended)

If these limits are exceeded, you may experience slower performance or failed executions.

Why these limits exist

These guidelines help ensure stable and predictable performance for all customers. Very large or complex automations can put significant load on the system, which may lead to instability if not managed properly.

Implementation of new limits:

  • Limit of 10 actions per automation is enforced for all new automations

  • Existing automations with more than 10 actions will continue to run unless deactivated

  • Once deactivated, automations exceeding the limit cannot be reactivated and must be adjusted to meet the limit

If you have any questions or are planning a large-scale update, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
