How can I unpublish a Page?

Sometimes, you are not ready to show your amazing work to the world. Therefore, you can unpublish the page. Only visible for Editors.

Updated over a week ago

It's helpful to unpublish unfinished pages, especially if you need to finish or rework them. This means that the page will not be visible to users, but the content you created will not be deleted—a sort of draft mode.

Note: If you unpublish a cover page (the top-level navigation page in your Guidelines), users will be redirected to the first available published document within the Guideline. If no other document is published, they’ll encounter a 403 permission error. Keep this in mind before unpublishing a page that serves as a navigation hub.

Thanks to the Navigation Manager, it's fast and easy.

Here's a short How-To:

  1. Login to your Guidelines

  2. Press the edit button or use the shortcut CMD + E

  3. Click on the Navigation Manager icon

in the Power Bar on the left-hand side of your screen.

  4. Select the page you want to unpublish.

  5. Click on the unpublish icon.

Here's a short gif to show you how to do it.

Within your Navigation Manager, you'll notice that the page is currently unpublished. Additionally, when you access the page directly, you'll observe a yellow dot in the menu beside it, signaling that it's in draft mode.

Once you want to publish the page, just click on the publish icon on your Navigation Manager. If the page does not get published or you encounter issues such as the 'publish' icon not appearing, ensure you are logged into the correct profile and that the page is properly linked in the Navigation Manager. Additionally, double-check for any conflicts, such as duplicate page names or insufficient permissions, that might prevent the page from publishing.
