This help article refers to the latest integration we built for Contentful. This integration was introduced in Q4 2023. If you have been using the integration before that date, refer to this help article for more information. If you want to switch integration and pass to the latest version, please contact your CSM.

The Frontify and Contentful integration simplifies your content creation workflow by letting you access your Frontify brand assets from within the Contentful web app.

To use this integration, you will need:

Start the installation process from this link. Choose the space and environment to install, as shown in the screenshot below.

In the next screen, authorize the integration access to your Contentful space. In this screen, until the latest Frontify - Contentful integration is reviewed by Contetful, you’ll see a warning message saying, “Contentful hasn't reviewed this app. Be sure you trust this developer before you authorize access.”

This version has already been submitted to the Contentful marketplace and is pending review. You can proceed with authorizing the access as shown in the below screenshot.

In the 'Configuration' section, provide your Frontify domain URL (e.g., https://mybrandportal.frontify.com) in the respective field.

In the “Assign to fields” section, select the content type fields that you want this app to be used for. Please note that only compatible fields of type JSON object are displayed here. Click on “Save” to finish the installation and save the configuration.

Contentful Integration (latest) uses Frontify Finder v2, providing user-based authentication. Each user should provide their own Frontify login credentials to be able to access Frontify while using this integration. Each user will only have access to the libraries, projects, and assets they're entitled to see on Frontify based on their access rights.

To upload one of your Frontify on-brand assets, click 'Select files from Frontify' > select the Frontify assets needed using the dialog > 'Choose.'

Once done so, previews of your assets will appear in your entry.

For this integration, we use CDN links, which are unique for each revision. It means the url changes if the revision changes. In this way, while we prevent your website from slowing down, we also reduce side effects - if you change an asset in Frontify, this does not break your website unknowingly.
