You have to create the frontend of the Library in the Guideline. Follow this guide to do it. When you do, the Guideline icon will appear on the left Power Bar when you are in the Library. If it's displayed as seen in the image below, it means that the Library is connected, and you can navigate directly to that Guideline by clicking on it. To connect a library to a Guideline in Frontify:
Navigate to the Guidelines section in your Frontify workspace.
Select the relevant Block or Section where you want to connect a Library.
From the Guideline editor, choose the Library you wish to connect. For additional help, you can view Frontify's official tutorial videos for a visual walkthrough.
By default, libraries and guidelines must belong to the same brand to be directly connected. However, if the library is in a different brand:
Option 1: Move the Library
Move the library into the target brand. You can do this from the backend library view.
Once the library is moved, it will be selectable in the Guideline editor for connection.
Option 2: Use External or Navigation Links
If moving the library is not an option, set up external or navigation links within the Guideline to direct users to the library in a different hub. Note, however, that this approach takes users out of the current Guideline environment.
To connect an existing library to a duplicated Guideline without duplicating assets, follow this workaround:
Open the library you intend to connect.
Go to Settings β General in the library settings menu.
Temporarily switch the Brand of the library to the brand associated with the duplicated Guideline, then save.
Open the duplicated Guideline and add the library:
In the Guideline editor, select Add β Library and choose the relevant library.
Confirm the connection and ensure the library appears in the Guideline navigation.
Go back to the library settings and revert the Brand to its original setting.
If it does not show or is not connected to the correct Guideline, you need to connect it by adding the Library frontend in the top navigation of your Guideline. When dealing with libraries in different brands, you can either move the library to the target brand or use external links to provide access. While moving ensures seamless integration within the Guideline, external links help maintain assets in their original context.
