Learn how to use the Zapier Integration for Frontify

Updated over a year ago

The Zapier Integration is available on any plan and is free to use. Don't hesitate to contact your Customer Success Manager for further information for all Enterprise customers.

With the Frontify Zapier Integration, you can connect Frontify with over 4'000 different apps available through Zapier. The Zapier Integration for Frontify lets you create automation in Zapier (called Zaps), making it the one-stop shop for assets living in external tools.

Please find some helpful examples and more information on our Blog.

Overview of the Create Actions

Create Actions are used within Zapier to react to something happening.

We’re supporting three different types of such actions you can use to interact with Frontify:

Use Case 1 – Create a File-Based Asset

You can use Zapier to create assets from a third-party tool that Zapier supports to create assets of all types within Frontify. The setup action of such a workflow would look like this:

  • Brand: Choose the brand you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Project / Library: Choose the project or library you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Filename: This is the filename of the new asset. It needs to end with the correct file extension (e.g., myfile.jpg, somefile.png, etc.) (required)

  • File: This is the URL to the file that is going to be uploaded to Frontify (required)

  • Asset Title: This is the title of the new asset within Frontify

  • Description: An optional description of the new asset

  • Tags: You can assign tags for the new asset by providing a comma-separated list

Use Case 2 – Create External Asset by URL

You can use Zapier to create assets from a third-party tool that supports embedding by using a URL. The setup action of such a workflow would look like this:

  • Brand: Choose the brand you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Project / Library: Choose the project or library you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • URL: The URL that you would like to embed as an asset in Frontify (required)

  • Title: This is the title of the new asset within Frontify

  • Directory: You can create the new asset within a given folder

Use Case 3 – Invite a User to a Project

You can use Zapier to invite single or multiple users (email) to get access to a specific project or library within Frontify. The setup action of such a workflow would look like this:

  • Brand: Choose the brand you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Project / Library: Choose the project or library you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • User Email: The email address of the user(s) you want to invite. You can use a comma-separated list to invite multiple users (required)

  • Role: The role the invited user(s) are going to be assigned (required)

Automate actions by using Triggers

Automate action can help reduce manual updates keeping systems more closely aligned. Currently, we’re supporting one trigger:

New Assets Webhook

This trigger is fired as soon as a new asset is uploaded to a specified project in Frontify.

Let’s think of use cases where you want to synchronize systems (e.g., an existing DAM and Frontify). The setup action of such a workflow would look like this:

  • Brand: Choose the brand you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Project / Library: Choose the project or library you want to upload the new asset to (required)

  • Events: These are the events that Zapier gets notified about if they happen in your project (required)

Requirements

To use this integration, you will need:

  • An existing Frontify Account (any plan is supported)

  • A Zapier account

Getting Started

Search for the Frontify Integration in the Zapier Marketplace and add it to your Zap. Next, you’ll be prompted to authenticate your account in Frontify and authorize Zapier. This happens through a mechanism called OAuth2. Because of this, you’ll see what information gets shared between Zapier and Frontify.

After successful authentication and authorization, you’ll be able to use the Frontify Zapier Integration like any other application within Zapier.

If you require further assistance or information, reach out to Support or your Customer Success Manager.
