Translate guidelines with AI

Learn how to enable AI translations for your Frontify account and guidelines, and translate content into additional languages.

AI translation helps you translate guideline pages into additional languages, making brand content accessible to teams across different regions. You can use custom prompts to refine translations and maintain consistent terminology.

Note: AI translation is currently in beta and must be enabled by an account admin before use.

Enable AI translation

AI translation must first be enabled at the account level. You can then activate it for individual guidelines.

Enable AI translation for your account

  1. Open Account.

  2. Go to the Guidelines section under AI features.

  3. Turn on AI translation.

  4. Accept the beta terms and privacy notice when prompted.

Note: Only account admins can enable AI translation at the account level.

Enable AI translation for individual guidelines

Once AI translation is enabled at the account level, account admins can activate it for individual guidelines through Access management. Guideline owners, editors, and translators cannot enable the feature themselves.

  1. Open Access management.

  2. Select Guidelines.

  3. Find the guideline you want to enable AI translation for.

  4. Turn on AI translation.

Disable AI translation

You can disable AI translation for individual guidelines or your entire account.

  • For individual guidelines: Open Access management → Guidelines, find the relevant guideline, and turn off AI translation.

  • For your account: Open Account. Under AI features → Guidelines, turn off AI translation.

Translate a guideline page

Once AI translation is enabled for a guideline, guideline owners, editors, and translators can use it to translate content through the bottom action toolbar.

Before using AI translation, make sure your guidelines have a default language and at least one additional language configured.

For setup instructions, see Multi-language feature.

  1. Open the language switcher in your guideline navigation. You’ll find it in the top-right corner in Classic/Legacy or the bottom-left corner in Muse.

  2. Select the language you want to translate into.

  3. Enter edit mode.

  4. In the bottom action bar, select AI translation.

  5. Optionally, enter a custom prompt to refine the translation, such as preserving specific brand terminology.

  6. Select Translate.

Review the translated content for accuracy, terminology, and cultural context before publishing it.

Note: Translations are automatically published once the guideline page is no longer in draft mode.
