Adobe Workfront integration

Learn how to connect Frontify assets with your Workfront workflows.

Updated yesterday

With the Frontify integration for Adobe Workfront, you can:

  • Browse Frontify assets directly within Workfront

  • Link approved assets to projects and tasks

  • Send finished assets from Workfront back to Frontify

This ensures Frontify remains the single source of truth for assets, while Workfront continues to manage work and collaboration โ€” reducing manual uploads and keeping workflows efficient.

Important:
The integration focuses on asset exchange, not version syncing. Assets sent from Workfront to Frontify are uploaded as new files and do not automatically update existing Frontify assets.

Linking documents from Frontify into Workfront

Linking allows you to reference a Frontify asset inside Workfront without downloading or uploading it manually.

How to link a Frontify asset

  1. In Workfront, open a project or task and go to the Documents section

  2. Click Add New and select From Frontify (or any other name your admin set up for your Frontify integration)

  3. Click Allow Access to authorize (first time only)

  4. Browse through Brands, Libraries, and Folders

  5. Select the asset you want to use

  6. Confirm to attach the document

Understanding the Folder structure

When browsing Frontify from within Workfront, assets are shown in a hierarchical structure that mirrors Frontify:

๐Ÿ“ Brand

๐Ÿ“ Library

๐Ÿ“ Folder

๐Ÿ“„ Assets

What each level means

  • Brand
The top-level container for your organizationโ€™s assets. If you only have access to one brand, this level will be skipped.

  • Library
A library with assets within a brand. If you only have access to one library, this level will be skipped.

  • Folder
Folders and sub folders used to organize assets inside a library.

  • Asset files
Individual files such as images, PDFs, or videos.

To navigate, click through the structure in this order:
โ€‹Brand โ†’ Library โ†’ Folder โ†’ Asset

Search for Frontify assets

When linking assets, you can also search across Frontify libraries.

  1. Open Add New โ†’ From Frontify in Workfront

  2. Use the Search field

  3. Enter a keyword (e.g. asset title)

  4. Select one or more assets from the result

Search results reflect what you have access to in Frontify.

Opening and downloading linked Frontify assets

Preview

  • Click the asset title in Workfront to open a preview. This also works for assets that display a generic thumbnail due to Workfront file restrictions (e.g. SVG files).

  • Under Document details, you can preview or download the asset.

Download

  • Select the linked document in Workfront

  • Click Download selected

  • The downloaded file matches the source asset in Frontify

Sending documents from Workfront to Frontify

Used to upload a file from Workfront into Frontify.

How to send a document

  1. Select a document in Workfront

  2. Click the forward arrow icon and choose Frontify

  3. Alternatively, when you are in the Document's details, go over the three dots and choose "Send" -> Frontify

  4. Authorize access if prompted

  5. Choose a destination: Brand โ†’ Library โ†’ Folder

  6. Confirm the upload

What happens next

  • The file is uploaded to the selected Frontify folder

  • The uploaded file is treated as a new asset

  • File size and content match the Workfront version

Note:
Sending a file does not update or replace an existing Frontify asset.

Authorization notes

You may be asked to authorize Frontify more than once.

This can happen when:

  • Linking assets from Frontify for the first time

  • Sending assets to Frontify for the first time

This is expected behavior. Simply click Allow Access when prompted.

Once authorized, access is remembered unless you log out manually.

Known limitations

Be aware of the following limitations:

  • Asset versioning and revisions are not synchronized between systems

  • Sending an asset always creates a new file in Frontify

  • Preview availability depends on Workfront and its supported file types
