iFrame block

Embed external websites and tools directly into your Guidelines

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The iFrame block, built by our partner Axisbits GmbH, allows Frontify customers to seamlessly embed external websites, tools, and interactive content directly into their Guidelines. Designed as a modern replacement for the legacy Embed block, it gives teams more control, better validation, and a more flexible foundation for future enhancements.

With built-in URL validation and smart detection of embedding restrictions, the iFrame block makes it easier to integrate third-party content reliably - without breaking layouts or running into unexpected errors.

Why use the iFrame block?

  • Embed a wider range of external websites and web-based tools

  • Reduce errors through automatic URL validation and feedback

  • Control spacing and height to better fit your Guideline layout

  • Set up embeds faster using predefined size presets

What the iFrame block does

The iFrame Block enables secure and customizable embedding of external content within Frontify Guidelines, including:

External content embedding

  • Embed any external website or web-based tool that supports iFrame embedding

  • Display live, interactive content directly inside your Guidelines

Smart URL validation

  • Automatically validates URLs before embedding

  • Surfaces clear error messages if a URL is invalid or blocked from embedding

Size & layout controls

  • Adjust padding to control spacing around embedded content

  • Manually set height values for better layout consistency

  • Choose from preset size options for quick configuration

Embedding restriction detection

  • Detects common iFrame restrictions (such as blocked domains)

  • Prevents broken embeds by notifying users upfront

How to use the iFrame block

  1. Add the block: In your Guideline, add a new block and select iFrame Block from the Marketplace community blocks.

  2. Insert a URL: Paste the URL of the external website or tool you want to embed.

  3. Validate: The block automatically checks whether the URL can be embedded.

  4. Adjust layout: Customize padding, height, or select a preset size.

  5. Publish: Save your changes to display the embedded content in your Guideline.

Typical use cases

  • Embedding live dashboards, analytics tools, or reporting platforms

  • Integrating external documentation, tools, or interactive demos

  • Displaying third-party configurators, calculators, or forms inside Guidelines

Setup and access

The iFrame Block is available on the Marketplace.

No additional setup is required - Guideline users can add and configure the block directly once it’s available in their instance.
