Brand assistant in DAM

Manage and organize assets using natural language.

The Brand assistant is Frontify’s conversational AI experience, available in both Guidelines and DAM. It works differently depending on where you use it.

  • In Guidelines, the Brand assistant helps you understand and create content based on your brand guidelines. In DAM, it helps you manage and organize your assets.

  • In DAM, you can select assets, describe what you want to do, and use the Brand assistant to complete common asset management tasks without updating assets one by one.

You can use the Brand assistant in DAM to organize content, update metadata, manage licensing information, change workflow statuses, and more. You can also ask it to review the health of your library and identify areas that need attention. You can currently work with up to 100 selected assets at a time.

Good to know: The brand assistant in DAM is an AI feature and is turned off by default. An account admin must enable it before it can be used.

What can I use the brand assistant in DAM for?

The brand assistant in DAM supports common digital asset management workflows across selected assets. You can use it to help with tasks such as:

Metadata management

  • Review asset metadata

  • Add or update metadata across selected assets

Asset organization

  • Create folders

  • Create collections

  • Move assets into folders

  • Move assets into collections

Licensing

  • Update licensing information across selected assets

Workflow management

  • Update workflow statuses

Instead of making the same change asset by asset, you can describe the outcome you want and work across a selection at once.

Enable the brand assistant in DAM

The brand assistant in DAM is disabled by default and can be enabled from your account's AI settings.

To enable it:

  1. Open Account settings

  2. Go to your AI features settings

  3. Find the brand assistant in DAM

  4. Turn the feature on

  5. Review and accept the applicable terms

  6. Choose whether to activate it for:

    1. All libraries

    2. Selected libraries

If you activate the brand assistant in DAM for all libraries, it becomes available across all supported libraries in your account.

If you choose to customize access by library, you'll be taken to the user management dashboard, where you can control which libraries have the brand assistant in DAM enabled.

Note: The brand assistant in DAM is not currently available in Template Libraries.

Enable enhanced image search

For the best results, Enhanced Image Search should also be enabled for every library where you use the brand assistant in DAM.

Enhanced image search gives the brand assistant more context about the content in your library, helping it better understand and work with your assets.

If you enable the brand assistant in DAM for a library, make sure enhanced image search is enabled for that library as well.

What should I keep in mind?

Brand assistant in DAM currently has a few limitations:

  • You can work with up to 100 selected assets at a time

  • It is not currently available in Template Libraries

  • Conversations are not saved

  • Leaving the current view resets the conversation

  • Enhanced Image Search should be enabled for libraries where Brand assistant in DAM is used

The experience will continue to evolve as additional capabilities become available.

Tips for getting the best results

Be specific about the outcome you want

Instead of:"Fix these."

Try: "Review the metadata for these assets and add descriptions where they're missing."

Start with a health check

Ask Brand assistant to review a selection of assets and identify anything that needs attention before asking it to make changes. This can be especially useful when you're cleaning up or improving the quality of a library.

Use clear actions

Prompts that clearly describe the task can make your request easier to understand.

For example:

  • Create

  • Move

  • Review

  • Update

  • Organize

  • Change

Work with a focused selection

Select the assets you want Brand assistant to work with before starting your request.

This gives Brand assistant clearer context about the content you want to manage.
