Headings help structure your brand guidelines and make it easier for users to find and understand your content.
With the Heading block, you can:
Fit headings into a section column or span the full section width
Choose whether headings appear in navigation
Choose a heading style from Heading 1 to Heading 4
Align headings to the left, centre, or right
Copy a direct link to a heading or any other content block
Open Heading block settings
Open your Brand Guidelines and switch to Edit mode.
Select a Heading block.
Select the settings cog in the block toolbar.
The settings panel opens on the right, where you can adjust the heading's layout and style.
Adjust the heading layout
Under Layout, you can control how the heading fits into your page and how it appears to users.
Respect section columns
By default, a heading spans the full width of its section.
Turn on Respect section columns to make the heading fit within a column.
This is useful when you're working with a split layout and want the heading to sit alongside other content.
Note: Column-fitted headings aren't specially handled on mobile.
Show in navigation
Turn Show in navigation on or off to control whether the heading appears in your guideline navigation.
Turn it off when you want to use a heading to structure your content without adding it to the navigation.
Show copy link
Turn Show copy link on or off to control whether the Copy link button appears on the heading. When enabled, users can copy a direct link to the heading and share it with others.
Change the heading style
Under Style, you can change the heading's type style and alignment.
Type style
Choose from:
Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 3
Heading 4
Heading styles are limited to these four options to maintain a clear semantic structure across your guidelines. Custom font sizes and fonts aren't available for individual headings.
Alignment
Choose from:
Left
Centre
Right
Alignment can help you create the right layout for your content and supports languages with different reading directions.
Colour
Heading colours are inherited from your colour scheme.
There are no changes to how heading colours are managed.
Copy a link to a content block
You can copy a direct link to any content block in one click.
Select the content block you want to link to.
Select Copy link in the block toolbar.
Share or paste the copied link wherever you need it.
The link takes users directly to that block on the page. Copy link is available for all content blocks, not just Heading blocks.
Link to a heading
You can link directly to a heading using the internal link chooser. When adding a link, open the internal link chooser and select the heading you want to link to.
Heading links are permalinks, so you can use them to send users directly to a specific heading on a page.
Things to keep in mind
Heading links are permalinks. Links to other content blocks aren't. A link to another block can break if the block is moved or deleted, or if its page is duplicated.
Column-fitted headings aren't specially handled on mobile. The heading follows the standard mobile behaviour of the section.
Heading styles are limited to Heading 1–4. You can't add custom font sizes or fonts to individual headings.
Heading URL slugs can't be customised. The slug is generated automatically.
In summary
The Heading block gives you more control over your page structure and navigation. You can place headings where they make sense in your layout, decide which headings appear in navigation, and share direct links to specific content.
