You can directly add facets to the search bar on the frontend view.

Just switch to edit mode, click on the filter drop-down (left from the search bar) > add facet. You can then add facets based on the Metadata and Tags you defined or other predefined attributes like the orientation of the picture and the file type. See here to learn more.
